“PROJECT KITAB” LAUNCHED AT ABOHAR BY DC AGGARWAL

The Abohar subdivision has got two state-of-the-art libraries under the project “kitab” to provide meaningful guidance to the youth. The first rural hi-tech Library of the district has been set up by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department at village Jhurarkheraand the Municipal Corporation has set up a library at Azeemgarh.

The libraries were inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal in the presence of SSP Bhupinder Singh and Mayor Vimal Thatai.

The DC said that the libraries would prove to be a milestone for the intellectual development of youth. The libraries have books required for competitive examinations as well as those related to literature. These would also have the facility of e-library through IT which would enable the youngsters coming here to travel across the world through National Digital Library.

He said, “more you use this library, the more knowledge you will get from it. But at the same time, the locals should take care of the facility”. Solar power has been used in Jhurarkhera library. Books in Hindi, Punjabi and English are provided, similar libraries would be set up in other villages also.

MC Mayor Vimal Thatai said the project will rehabilitate love for books that has been fading in the past. To develop general knowledge and interest in heritage, such a project was the need of the hour. OC
