IN THE JOY OF OTHERS: EQUALITY AND RESPECT WALK HELD IN AUSTRALIA

August 04, 2022 08:48 AM

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Under the auspices of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s centenary celebrations, his life message – ‘In the joy of others lies our own’ – was shared from Uluru, one of Australia’s most recognizable natural landmarks and one of the most important indigenous sites. Uluru is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

BAPS swamis and volunteers gathered at Uluru to take part in the ‘In the Joy of Others – Equality and Respect Walk’. Australian values based on freedom, respect, fairness and equality of opportunity are central to providing a secure, prosperous and peaceful place to live. These are the same values Pramukh Swami Maharaj taught across the globe throughout his life. Uniting with the traditional custodians, BAPS volunteers also raised awareness about living by these values.

At the Talinguru Nyakunytjaku sunrise viewing area the Anangu people gathered to traditionally welcome Pramukh Swami Maharaj and the volunteers by performing a traditional dance.

Thereafter, on the Lungkata walk path, the ‘In the Joy of Others – Equality and Respect Walk’ commenced from the Mala car park and ended at the Kuniya car park. The 4km walk was smoothly completed while spreading the messages of equality and respect.
