A UNIQUE INITIATIVE LAUNCHED FOR THE OVERALL DEVELOPMENT OF 30 BORDER VILLAGES

To reach out to the residents of 30 remote villages located near the India-Pak border under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the district administration has devised a novel way by organising special AABAD camps in these villages.

While launching the scheme 'Mission AABAD(Absolute Boarder Area Development)' at Dhandi Kadim, Chak Wajida, Hastan Kalan and Mahatam Nagar villages, Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal said that the idea was to provide all the facilities related to comprehensive infrastructure, social and economic development and beneficiary schemes at the doorstep. He said the response was overwhelming on Day-1 hundreds of residents thronged the camps for getting benefits, similar camps will also be organized in other border villages.

Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna said at Mahatam Nagar that the initiative would bridge the gap between the public and government and be helpful to resolve the problems of border area residents.Sophia Kamboj said that it will provide a lot of convenience to the people and their official work will be done in the village itself. ADC (General) Harcharan Singh, SDM Amanpal Singh, DDPO Sukhpal Singh were also present.

DC said that the services provided in these camps included caste certificate, residence certificate, rural area certificate, border area certificate, pension related facilities, health department related facilities, work related to rural development department and MGNREGA, water supply and sanitation department benefits and Aadhaar card related services.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said that besides department related services, police personnel will also sensitise the youth for recruitment in police. BSF personnel informed about the threat perception of drones coming from across the international border and asked them to report it to the security agencies.
