In a major breakthrough Operation Cell of Chandigarh Police under the supervision of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP Operations UT Chandigarh, got huge success in arresting three gang members of interstate extortion racket who are involved in threatening and extorting money from the residents of Chandigarh and other states of country.

This sextortion racket is being run in a well organised manner in which accused are working in a close- Knit Network and co-ordinated manner by dividing the duties of the gang members biz, arranging the SIM , Arranging the bank account for taking money, Callers who impersonate themselves as police officials and make extortion calls and others works.

HOW  THE SEXTORTION GANG WORKS 

They identify their target through facebook and then start Chating and slowly starts sending lascivious messages by impersonating as a female friend. Then they ask the target (victim) to come on a video call, where the first set of gang members comes in action and they make the target see a video already in their phone pretending it to be like a real video call and with the help of voice app they communicate with their target.

The Victim feels that he is on live call with a girls, whereas he is just watching a video and talking to the accused person who change their voice in female voice with the help of voice app, After Playing the video the accuse insist the victim to remove their cloths as well and the accused screen record the entire act.

After this, the second set of gang members comes in action and they send the target the screen recording where both the girl and the target are nude and then blackmail him by saying that they are going to publish this video on social media to desime & tarnish him or victim shall deposit the amount in their told account. Scared from the victim used to deposit whatever amount the extortionist is asking.

Third set of gang members comes in action, if the target is not depositing asked money in the bank account, then these gang members makes a watsapp call by putting the DP of Police officer, wearing uniform and telling the victim that the girl has come with the complaint and at this stage the entire episode can be compromised by the paying the certain amount to the girl, otherwise a case will be registered and the target will be arrested.

The rest of the gang member arrange SIM from different state and bring it to District Bharatpur Rajasthan for making sextortion calls and also arranges fake bank account for depositing sextortion money.

All the gang members’ works in well coordinated manner and divide money according to the percentage already decided in agreement to each other.

Brief of the case FIR No. 21 dated 17.08.2022 U/s 419,420,384, 120- B IPC PS Cyber Crime UT Chandigarh.: This case was registered on the complaint of Sh. Manoj Kumar R/o House No. 2600 Sector-19, Chandigarh in which he complained that on 16.08.2022, he gets a whatsapp message from Mobile No. 9166724288 in which the sender mentioned her name as Archana Sharma and they started messaging each other him that she is Govt Teacher.

Further on the same night he got a video call from same mobile number and during that video call the complainant found the girl on other side and she asked the complainant for removing of his cloths, and on being lascivious by her, he also took off his clothes. Thereafter the complainant again got a call from Mobile No i.e 8249574788, during the call, accused told him that he is calling SHO from DC Office Chandigarh and caller further told to me that a complaint has been received in DC Office against him.

During course of investigation, the raiding party of Operations Cell Sector-26, Chandigarh went to Kaithwara District Bharatpur Rajasthan and three persons from Village Kaithwara, District Bharatpur, Rajasthan were apprehended and brought them to Chandigarh for interrogation. During further interrogation and investigation all three are arrested in this case and further during their arrest one mobile Phone and SIM cards were recovered from their possession, which were used by them for committing the crime.

During course of investigation, the raiding party of Operations Cell Sector-26, Chandigarh went to Kaithwara District Bharatpur Rajasthan and three persons from Village Kaithwara, District Bharatpur, Rajasthan were apprehended and brought them to Chandigarh for interrogation. During further interrogation and investigation all three are arrested in this case and further during their arrest one mobile Phone and SIM cards were recovered from their possession, which were used by them for committing the crime.

All three arrested persons suffered 03 separate discloser statement U/S 27 Evidence Act, in which they revealed that they are running a Sextortion gangs and duping innocent peoples of Chandigarh & all over India, by making nude videos. Approximately 15 more gangs’ members are working in their Sextortion gang and they also revealed that they are running their Sextortion Racket over India by duping the innocent people.

They are approximately 25-30 gangs’ members, this gang has used 2000 Sims in last one year to cheat and extort innocent peoples.

Mubin age 39 S/o Yusuf Khan R/O Mandour PS Pahari, District Bharatpur, Rajasthan.*Rashid age 19 years S/o Aas Mohammed R/O Village Kaithwara, PS Kaithwara , District Bharatpur, Rajasthan.* Ajrudin age 24 years S/O Sher Singh R/o Village Kuliyana PS Kaithwara District Bharatpur Rajasthan.

Mubin is 10+2 dropout and runs a mobile shop in kaithwara Bhartpur Rajasthan, married. Rashid presently studying ITI and also working with Mubin with his mobile shop as a mobile repair worker, Unmarried and Ajrudin 8th dropout and presently involved in such cheating only. Married.

ADVISORY: Chandigarh Police is also making an appeal through this press brief that, please do not indulged in such whatsApp Chating and fell prey to these cheaters/ Sextortionist.
