NEW YORK: Yuki Bhambri of India defeated ninth seed Radu Albot of Moldova 7-6 (4) 6-4 in singles first round qualifying in the $27,915,200 US Open in New York.
In another first round qualifying Vasek Pospisil of Canada ousted Sumit Nagal 7-6 (2) 6-4. Wild card Bruno Kuzuhara of USA beat Ramkumar Ramanathan of India 6-3, 7-5.
BALAJI-JEEVAN BEATEN: Viktor Durasovic (Norway) and Otto Virtanen (Finland) upset fourth seeds Indian pair of N.Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the doubles quarter-final round of the €45,790 Srpska Opem at Banja Luka (Bosnia-Herzegovina).
