GILLCO INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL HOSTS AN INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS TOURNAMENT AT ITS MOHALI CAMPUS*

Known for fostering a sport-friendly culture, Gillco International School organised a majestic opening ceremony for the Inter-School Badminton Tournament, 2022. The three-day event kicked off with a series of competitions in different sports disciplines like Basketball, Table Tennis and Skating. These were held between categories U14, U17 and U19( Boys and Girls) across the educational zones of the Mohali district at the campus of GIS, Mohali.

The Principal at GIS, Ms. Ruchi Sharma, motivated all the aspiring Sportsmen with her encouraging words. She added that these tournaments assist in teaching the skills like accountability, team spirit, leadership and learning to work with discipline and confidence to the students.

It saw splendid participation of students from six schools of Mohali, namely The Knowledge Bus School, Skonics School, Sacred Soul School, Anne’s School and Government School (Kharar). Around 20 teams took part in the grand event. Sports and Athletics are emblematic of the Gillco International School’s identity. The school has an impeccable track record of catapulting sportspeople and athletes. It believes in inculcating values of perseverance, tenacity, and team cooperation among sportsmen and women.

The Principal at GIS, Ms. Ruchi Sharma, motivated all the aspiring Sportsmen with her encouraging words. She added that these tournaments assist in teaching the skills like accountability, team spirit, leadership and learning to work with discipline and confidence to the students.

Spilling a few words of wisdom, Principal, GIS, added, “A budding sports culture motivates children to view sports seriously and pursue a career in it. The recent international performances of Indian athletes have led to a dramatic shift in perspective. Sports is viewed as a solid career option and an opportunity to make our country proud. It is an emboldening mark of talent, sacrifice, hard work, and perspicacity.”
