FLORAL TRIBUTES PAID TO SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH

The 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was celebrated today by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Social Forum at Shaheed Chowk with the slogans of Inquilab Zindabad, Vande Matram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

Ratan Singla, B.S. Pahuja, Bittu Narula, Surendra Nagori, Vijay Narula, Satpal Gilhotra, Ashok Magan, Subhash Chhabra, Yogesh Arora, Ram Prakash Mittal, Mukesh Tayal, Anil Nagpal, Sumit Nagpal, Vivek, Sonu Kataria, Naresh Gilhotra, FC Setia, Bihari Lal, Gaurav Nagpal, Kamal Kant Khanna, Happy Handa were among those present.

Lekhak Parishad president Raj Sadosh, a founder member of Labour Council, said that it was his good fortune that after 53 years, he has got an opportunity to join the program of installing the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam again. The statue was installed by the Labour Council in 1969 with the inspiration of senior journalist and social worker Mathura Dass Hiteshi. Now with the efforts of his son Bharat Hiteshi, it is commendable to install a life-sized statue of youth's ideal Bhagat Singh at the same place.

Praveen Chawla said that on October 4, the statue of the martyr will be unveiled at 10.30 am at the Chowk. Bhagat Singh's nephew Professor Jagmohan Singh will reach here for the function. The keynote speaker will be Prof. M.M. Juneja.

There is a lot of enthusiasm among the residents of the city towards this program. Kamal Khurana said that Bhagat Singh's thinking was different from other leaders. Despite being a revolutionary, he resolved to follow the path of non-violence.

There is a need to adopt his ideals. Retired SDM B. L. Sikka said that the martyr's death is considered as the proud heritage of the community. Subhash Baghla said that the renovation of the Chowk is a historic event. Nearby shopkeepers should take a pledge that they will leave no stone unturned for its maintenance. Kulbhushan Hiteshi said that the new generation should draw inspiration from the lives of freedom fighters.
