The Scheduled Caste employees associated with the Roadways SC Employees Sangharsh Samiti of Haryana have sought time to hand over their mass resignations to the Chief Minister of the state, accusing the Director of Transport Department of torturing the employees out of casteist malpractices.

Manoj Chahal, State President of the Roadways SC Employees Sangharsh Samiti of Haryana, said in his statement that the Transport Director has been continuously targeting the Scheduled Caste employees of Haryana Roadways since last year due to their casteist thinking and vengeance. He also humiliated the union representatives in the meeting held on November 22 and made casteist remarks about the SC society.

Chahal informed that the Roadways SC Employees Sangharsh Samiti of Haryana has always worked in the interest of the government and department. He said that his organization had also done the work of running buses in the interest of the government and in the public interest during the strike of March 28-29, which was proposed by other organizations of the Transport Department. Then the striking employees of the department humiliated and attacked the employees of the Scheduled Castes for being on their duty.

It is alleged that the officers of the department, misusing their position, are pressurizing the union officials to take back the case related to the Palwal incident by engaging in false cases and colluding with the striking employees.

On the other hand, two scheduled caste employees of the Faridabad depot in Palwal were assaulted by the striking employees of the Sanjha Morcha for driving a bus and tried to burn them alive by pouring diesel. A criminal case had been registered against them at the Palwal police station.

Sandeep Boudh, General Secretary, and Vijay Kumar, Joint General Secretary, said that some officers of the department, by adopting various tactics, lodged criminal cases against the office bearers of the Sangharsh Samiti under a conspiracy. Many Scheduled Caste employees have been suspended and many employees have been served a charge sheet under Rule 4B. Few others were threatened of transfers.

It is alleged that the officers of the department, misusing their position, are pressurizing the union officials to take back the case related to the Palwal incident by engaging in false cases and colluding with the striking employees.

The Samiti's state head Manoj Chahal alleged that the higher officials of the department were trying to spoil the Union workers' careers. In such a situation, thousands of scheduled caste employees of the transport department have decided that instead of leaving their job under the conspiracy, they wish to submit their mass resignations to the Chief Minister of Haryana. For that, a request has been submitted to the CMO for a meeting.

The employees have demanded that the government should rein in the officers having such casteist mindsets and take strict action against them.
