CHANDIGARH GOLFERS HONOURED FOR WINNING GOLD MEDALS IN NATIONAL GAMES

Chandigarh Golf Association's Executive Committee Members & Gold Medal Winning Golfers with the Hon'ble Governor of Punjab

Chandigarh Golf Association's Executive Committee members on Tuesdsy called upon the Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit to honour the medal winning golf team from Chandigarh who recently brought laurels to the city by winning two gold medals in the National Games 2022 which was held from October 5 to 9 at Kensville Golf Resort Ahmedabad(Gujarat).

Former Punjab DGP S.K. Sharma, who is also President Chandigarh Golf Association, presented a memento to the Governor alongwith Sanjiv D.P. Azad IRS -General Secretary, Harpuneet Singh Sandhu - Treasurer and Col. H.S. Baidwan – Secretary and ream manager of Chandigarh golf team for National events. Mr. Sharma introduced the men's Chandigarh state golf team who had won one gold medal in the team event comprising of professional golfer Karandeep Kochhar and amateur golfer Anant S. Ahlawat and the second gold medal was won by Karandeep Kochhar in the individual event.

Col. H.S. Baidwan apprised the Hon'ble Governor on how Gold medallist golfer Karandeep Kochar became the first ever golfer to break the course record at the Kensville Golf Resort Ahmedabad with an unbelievable score of 21 under par to make the citizens of Chandigarh proud and thus motivated more youngsters to take up Golf professionally. The meeting ended with the Hon'ble Governor inspiring the youngsters to do well and expressing his desire to support the sport of Golf and Chandigarh Golf Association in a manner he formally can. 

He also introduced the ladies team of professional golfer Ms. Lakhmehar Pardesi and amateur golfer Ms. Hazel Chuhan who had represented Chandigarh in the National Games to which the Governor appreciated that even girls are doing well in the field of golf and motivated the Association members to keep on doing the commendable job they are doing by training, mentoring and producing medal winners from their prestigious CGA Golf Range. He also recognized the great sporting facilities being provided to the golfing fraternity by CGA at the Golf Range.
