LUCKNOW CORRUPTION CASE : CBI RECOVERS CASH OF RS. ONE CRORE DURING SEARCHES

DURING FURTHER SEARCHES AT THE PREMISES OF DEPUTY CHIEF ENGINEER OF NORTHERN RAILWAY; RS. 1.13 CRORE FOUND IN BANK ACCOUNTS

During further searches at the premises of Deputy Chief Engineer (Construction), Northern Railway, Lucknow, CBI has recovered cash of Rs. One Crore (approx). A cash of Rs. 38 Lakh was earlier recovered. Apart from said recovery, Rs.1.13 Crore  has been found in the bank accounts of said accused & his family members.

Out of which, majority of the amount was allegedly deposited in cash in various bank accounts. Gold jewellery worth Rs. 11 Lakh (approx); documents related to various property and monetary/material transactions allegedly related to various parties including Railway Vendors/Contractors. etc. have also been unearthed.

A case was registered on complaint against a Deputy Chief Engineer (Construction) Norhtern Railway, Lucknow on the allegations of demanding bribe from Complainant in lieu of passing the bills of his firm engaged in project work at Charbagh, Lucknow.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting undue advantage of Rs. 50,000/- from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused including in Delhi & Lucknow and the bank lockers, which led to recovery of huge cash and other assets.

The arrested accused was produced on 02.12.2022 before the Competent Court, Lucknow and remanded to CBI custody.  Investigation is continuing.
