NATIONAL STARTUP DAY CELEBRATED AT EDC BUILDING

On the occasions of National Startup Day and Innovation Week, Society of Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) under the aegis of Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration organized an exclusive event today at the EDC Building, IT Park for IT Startup community and IT professionals.

The importance of January 16 is that it was the founding day of the Startup India initiative. Startup India is a flagship scheme of Government of India spearheaded by Hon’ble Prime Minister intended to catalyse startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India.


The event started with inauguration of Angel investor Help Desk by Director Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration Mr. Rupesh Kumar, IAS in EDC building for young entrepreneurs. This help desk will act as single window system for the entrepreneurs to get all information related to angel investor and also uploading their pitch to the investors funding.

Mr Rupesh Kumar, IAS, Director Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration in his inaugural speech congratulated startup IT community on the occasion of national startup day. He welcomed the step of opening a Angel investor help desk in EDC which would help in addressing the long pending issue of funding support and mentorship to the entrepreneurs residing in EDC Building.



The half day conference begin with the movie on Department of IT, Chandigarh Administration startup journey from PEC to EDC showcasing success stories latest developments and way forward followed by curtain raiser to the EDC Startup IT community digital platform which will mentorship programs, workshops, networking events, and access to resources such as funding opportunities.

Mr Rupesh Kumar, IAS, Director Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration in his inaugural speech congratulated startup IT community on the occasion of national startup day. He welcomed the step of opening a Angel investor help desk in EDC which would help in addressing the long pending issue of funding support and mentorship to the entrepreneurs residing in EDC Building.

This move will help become an avenue of financial support for the budding entrepreneurs by providing them the much needed funding they need to realise their ideas, and make them marketable. He appreciated the effort of entrepreneurs to create a EDC Startup IT Community platform which will further provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and skills to keep this startup ecosystem thriving.

The event moved forward with insightful presentation on Artificial Intelligence from Mr. Abhishek Sharma, CEO BrainSim Technologies Inc and Mr. Iqbal Singh CEO of Immanent Solutions who gave a engaging presentation on Block Chain and how block chain technology can be used in Government effectively.

The key highlight of the event was also a startup bazaar put up by startup community showcasing their products and unique ideas . It was place where lot of ideas were exchanged and networking happened between community. Along with conference there was a special masterclass organized for the tech geeks on design thinking by Mr. Abhay Vohra who is professional designer.
