• APPREHENDED CCL IS A 17 YEAR OLD YOUNG BOY PURSUING HIS GRADUATION FROM SCHOOL OF OPEN LEARNING, DELHI. • THE CCL CAME INTO CONTACT WITH MINOR GIRL ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM INSTAGRAM AND BEFRIENDED HER.• AFTER SOME TIME THE CCL ENTICED THE VICTIM TO SEND HER NUDE PICTURES AND THEN THREATENED HER FOR SEXUAL FAVOURS. • TECHNICAL INVESTIGATION, ALONG WITH A LOT OF ON GROUND WORK BY POLICE TEAM LED TO THE IDENTIFICATION AND APPREHENSION OF CCL. • MOBILE PHONE, MAKE I-PHONE ALONG WITH SIM CARD USED IN THE OFFENCE RECOVERED FROM HIS POSSESSION. • ON INSPECTION OF RECOVERED MOBILE PHONE FROM CCL, IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT HE WAS HARASSING OTHER YOUNG GIRLS ALSO THROUGH SIMILAR MODUS OPERANDI.

A complaint of a grieving father was received through Cyber Portal at Police Station Cyber North, in which he alleged that his 14 years old daughter shared her personal pictures and videos with someone through Instagram chats and apprehended that video might be circulated. However, the father was reluctant for initiating legal action. Therefore, the father as well as his daughter were counselled. The girl disclosed that she had shared her private pictures and video with a friend on Instagram and now he has been pressurizing her to indulge into inappropriate chats and send more of her private pictures.
On the basis of the statement of the minor girl, a case vide FIR No. XXX/23 was registered at PS Cyber North and investigation was taken up.
INVESTIGATION: During the course of investigation, details of the alleged Instagram profile were obtained, including IP addresses and mobile number used in the registration of the alleged profile. The details of these IP addresses were further obtained from concerned mobile operators, from where, the mobile number and IMEI No. used in the offence were found and the identity of the alleged person was ascertained. Now, the question raised was that the pictures used by the alleged Instagram User were of a boy around the age of 17 to 20 years, whereas the user of the alleged SIM card was around the age of 50 years.
A dedicated all women police team of Cyber Police North District led by SI Deepa, comprising of SI Richa Sharma, HC Sonika and HC Geeta, under the close supervision of Inspr. Pawan Tomar, SHO/Cyber Police Station North and guidance of Shri Dharmender Kumar, ACP/Operations, North District was assigned the task of nabbing the culprit and on the basis of details of above said alleged person, the team reached on the address of the alleged Instagram User.Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, DCP, North Distt, said, during enquiry with the CCL, he after befriending her, he started asking for her nude photos, but when the girl did not agree to his demands, he further told her that he has her private pictures already. Going further he even showed those pictures to the victim girl and demanded for cheap talks and more private pictures. On inspection of his mobile phone recovered from him, it has been found that he was harassing many other young girls using the same tactics to fulfil his wrongful desires. He even forced his parents to buy him i-phone for showing it off before these girls.
However, after reaching at the address, it was revealed that no such person ever stayed on the mentioned address. Following which the team was further divided into two parts, out of which, 1st team was assigned the task to verify the actual address of the alleged Instagram, user with the SIM Card dealer, who issued the said Mobile number used by him. Whereas, the 2nd team was rushed to the live location of the alleged person, obtained on the basis of CDR of his mobile number and started the search for the alleged person. The dealer, who issued the SIM Card revealed that the alleged SIM was issued with biometric verification of Aadhar and they have no details available with them apart from the Aadhar card number of the alleged.
Finally, 3-4 hours of foot-work and enquiry with the grocery store owners and local vendors bore fruit, when the picture used by the alleged Instagram user was identified by a local boy, who claimed to know this person and further led the team to the present address of the alleged person, where it was revealed that the boy in the alleged Instagram profile is using a SIM issued on his father’s name and was not available at that moment. The father of the alleged was directed to produce him before police, who ensured the same.
Following which, the father of the alleged produced him and it was revealed that he is a 17 years old boy, who has last year passed his 12th Standard and is presently pursuing graduation from School of open learning. The CCL was then apprehended in above said case and from the possession of the CCL, One SIM Card and Mobile Phone used in the offence have been recovered.
VERSION OF THE CCL: Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, DCP, North Distt, said, during enquiry with the CCL, he gave his version and stated that he came in possession of some private pictures of a girl and started following her on Instagram. He kept her private pictures saved in his mobile phone and used to stalk her online all the time.
After befriending her, he started asking for her nude photos, but when the girl did not agree to his demands, he further told her that he has her private pictures already. Going further he even showed those pictures to the victim girl and demanded for cheap talks and more private pictures. On inspection of his mobile phone recovered from him, it has been found that he was harassing many other young girls using the same tactics to fulfil his wrongful desires. He even forced his parents to buy him i-phone for showing it off before these girls.
RECOVERY: One Mobile Phone, make Apple i-phone, used in offence. One SIM Card used for internet usage.
