A young lady doctor from Chandigarh was duped by a Nigerian gang  by Rs 47,22,600. Cyber crime cell of Chandigarh Unit reportedly nabbed six accused among five nigerians and one Indian woman involved in this gang from Delhi and Greater Noida.

While interacting media Police said, accused had posted their fake profiles on matrimonial sites. They used to call themselves doctors etc. Police said the gang used to trap innocent people visiting the matrimonial sites. 

They used to cheat people by trapping them in their emotions. The accused used to say that he was coming from abroad and had brought expensive gifts. After this, in the name of passing gifts etc. at the airport by customs, Indians used to cheat by demanding money.

RECOVERYPolice have recovered 25 mobile phones, 2 laptops, 3 modems and 1 landline phone from the arrested accused. The information of the case has also been shared with the MHA so that other cases related to these criminals may be traced. 

The accused have been identified as Ubesinechi Kaili Anago (39), a Nigerian living in Greater Noida and doing a garment business, Joshua Cheema Kalo (27), Prince Chincheram Onho (35), a Nigerian restaurant business living in Delhi's Dwarka, Gunia, Musician Pascal Guilavogui (28), living in Greater Noida, Nigerian musician Christian Antony alias Chris (34), living in Greater Noida and Shalini (32) of North Delhi, the Indian wife of Nigerian accused Prince. She used to help in Prince's restaurant. 

The Cyber Crime Police Station of Chandigarh Police has arrested for cheating by creating fake profiles on Indian matrimonial sites. A case was registered on January 18, 2023 for cheating, destruction of evidence, forgery, criminal conspiracy, under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act. The case was registered on the complaint of a doctor from Chandigarh.   

There is an NDPS case registered against Prince in Dwarka Distt. Police where he was on interim bail. The police have claimed that they tried to break the mobile phone to destroy the evidence of the crime. The police have recovered the broken mobile phone. 

Accused Christian Antony had created fake bank accounts for the fraud. He further gave it to Callie. Police investigation revealed that a case was registered against Christian Antoine at the Indira Gandhi Airport Police Station on September 5, 2020 for cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act. He was out on bail. Shalini, on the other hand, played the role of Kaali's sister and mother to gain emotional advantage and indulged in the crime of cheating. He helped Prince and Pascal break the mobile to destroy the evidence. 

In the case, the complainant woman had told the police that she is a doctor by profession. She came in contact with Dr. Christopher through a Christian matrimonial app. Dr. Christopher claimed that he was a doctor and was a doctor in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Both started talking to each other and became friendly. Both decided to get married. The complainant assumed that Dr. Christopher is a good man. 

Chandigarh Police, while investigating the case, raided Delhi and arrested two accused Prince and Pascal and recovered two mobile phones from their possession. During the raid, the accused tried to break the mobile to hide the evidence. The fraud was carried out from this number. The police took their remand and gathered information and raided Noida and arrested Kelly and Joshua.
