Face2News/Chandigarh

The ongoing dispute between Rajbala, the Principal of Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, Chandigarh and Medhavi, a teacher of the same school, has taken a new turn, with the intervention of important teachers’ and employees’ unions.

Representatives and members of the Punjab and Haryana Deputationalist Association, Samagra Shiksha Teachers Welfare Association, UT, Chandigarh and UT Cadre Teachers presented some documents before media and demanded that these documents should be included in the investigation for the sake of a fair and unbiased investigation.

They revealed the deep relationship between the Principal and the teacher. Teachers' organizations say that from 2017 to 26 January 2023, the relationship between the principal and the teacher has been like a family and in this regard they have also presented some documents, which included the complainant teacher's continuous outstanding A.C.Rs'. What's more the Principal did not take action on the complainant even on being asked to do so by her higher officials. Besides this, the complainant teacher was given teacher's award through Rotary Club.

Organizations have demanded that this close relationship should also be made the basis of investigation so that the matter of the school should be settled in between the two parties without any third party intervention. Given these facts the Police Administration should not investigate the case under pressure. Representatives of the organizations of employees and teachers said that the investigation should not be done under the pressure of any one group nor should it be done at the behest of any officer.

Inquiry must be done on the basis of ethics, they said, adding that they are not with anyone, but till the truth of this dispute is not revealed, the atmosphere of every school in Chandigarh will remain tense.

They said that the relationship of the principal-teacher is a respectable one and if justice is not done to its dignity, then it will be very difficult to work in the schools and maintain a good environment in the coming times.

They also demanded from the UT Administration and the UT Police that a solution should be found by making both the parties sit in a room by forming a team of top officers.

They also requested social organizations and political parties not to give any colour to this as then the environment of school and society is vitiated.
