A rape victim from Haripur, Sector 4, Panchkula told the media at a press conference in the presence of her lawyer that she was married in 2013 to a man from Amritkheda, District Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She was raped by her brother-in-law, Saurabh in the absence of her husband, as a result of which she gave birth to a child. The process of blackmailing and rape continued. The woman somehow returned to her parents and kept pleading with the Panchkula police to take action. When there was no hearing, she approached the higher authorities and the Punjab & Haryana High Court.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the DGP Haryana to initiate appropriate action on 8 April 2022, even after which the local police did not take action. Meanwhile, on the night of March 8, 2023, an associate of the accused, Aftab and his 20-25 accomplices barged into the victim's house, beat her up and tore her clothes. He also tried to rape her, snatched a silver chain and Rs 20,000 cash from her and ransacked the whole house. The Sector 5 police started harassing the victim's brother Bablu and repeatedly pressurized the victim to withdraw the rape complaint.

Advocate Deepak Aggarwal says that the woman should get justice as soon as possible. The accused should be arrested. According to the rules, the police had to present the challan within two months, which has not been done even after a year has passed. He has demanded strict action against the police officers who did not follow the order dated 2 September 2022 of DGP Haryana including cancellation of False FIR against brother of Rape Victim.

The woman said that the police had registered a zero FIR in her case. Later the FIR was transferred to Panchkula. Then petition was filed in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The police have not made any arrests so far. The accused has to be arrested from Lucknow, for which the Panchkula police are procrastinating.
