The Vishwa Jain Sangthan has once again urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to change the date of Bhagwan Mahavir Janma Kalyanak in the state holidays list from April 4 to April 3.

State coordinator of the organisation, Dr Sandeep Jain, today shot off another letter to the CM saying that the representation given a few days back on this issue has not been attended so far. In the list of Holidays declared by Govt of Punjab, Holiday on Bhagwan Mahavir Janma Kalyanak (Appropriate word for Jayanti) is shown as April 4. As per Jain belief the date of birth is Chaitra suditrayodashi that falls on April 3.

The CM has been requested to issue orders accordingly so that the date is changed.

Dr Jain said the Governments of Rajasthan, Karnataka, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and other states have already changed the holiday date to April 3. Copies of the related notifications have also been sent to the Punjab CM, he added.
