UT Police got a major success by arresting a gang of thieves and criminals involved in purchase of stolen split AC’s outer units. As there was a spree of split AC’s outer unit’s thefts from different part in Chandigarh, so Chandigarh Crime Branch constituted a special team to control the frequent theft of split AC’s outer units.
The team work hard and after gathering human intelligence, the Crime Branch team apprehend (4) four Gang members who were involved in the theft of split AC’s outer units (compressor), further disposing of stolen AC’s units. A total 15 stolen Split AC’s outer units has been recovered from the accused. With the arrest and recoveries at present a total 03 registered cases, one each in Police Station, Sector-3, 17& 34 has been solved.
The main accused Chamkaur Singh (an Air conditioner mechanic)and Varinder Singh(a drug addict)used to visit Chandigarh in night time (11.30 PM to 03.00 AM) and commit theft of outer split AC’s units installed outside SCOs and Offices in sector/markets. Transport these in Honda CIVIC Car and further dispose of these AC’s Units. They sold some units to Vishaldeep @ Shelly from Amritsar and who further in return provided Smack i.e. drug to them. They also confessed that before they had stolen 40/50 such units from Kharar, Mohali&Chandigarh area.The investigation in the case is in progress, two accused are in police remand and more recovery may beaffected.
On 27.05.2023, acting upon a secret information accused Karan, Varinder Singh and Chamkaur Singh were arrested from near CRPF Barrier Bahlana and total 06 AC’s outer unit (Compressor) were recovered as well as vehicle Honda CIVIC Car used in crime was recovered from their possession. Their disclosure statement was recorded, as per their disclosure statement co-accused Vishaldeep @ Shelly also arrested from Amritsar, Punjab and 03 AC’s outer unit (Compressor) were recovered from his possession.
Further as per discloser statement 06 outer split AC’s unit has been recovered from Pinjor Haryana.
