NGAI ORGANISES OFFICIATING CAMP FOR TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

NEED TO PROMOTE GATKA IN ALL EDU INSTITUTIONS, CITIES, VILLAGES : NARESH THAKUR

Aiming to hone the skills of its technical officials the National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), the oldest organisation of Gatka, in collaboration with the Gatka Association of Punjab, has organized an officiating camp for its coaches, referees and judges at Dashmesh Khalsa College, Zirakpur. The event witnessed the participation of 30 technical officials who aimed to stay updated with the amended Gatka rules and regulations.

Simranjeet Singh, the General Secretary of NGAI, informed that the camp was conducted under the guidance of NGAI president Harjeet Singh Grewal and certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees as a recognition of their commitment to Gatka officiating.

On the occasion the chief guest Naresh Thakur, Secretary of the Chandigarh Olympic Association in his keynote address, emphasized the importance of promoting Gatka in all types of educational institutions, cities and villages across India. Thakur advocated for women to learn martial arts for self-defense and urged the Union Sports Ministry to expedite the recognition of NGAI to facilitate the promotion of this ancient art form nationally and internationally.

The camp also saw the presence of Gatka personalities including Inderjodh Singh, Vice President of NGAI, Sarabjeet Singh Ludhiana, Senior Vice President of Gatka Association of Punjab, Sarabjit Singh Jalandhar, State Coordinator of the International Sikh Martial Art Council, Charanjeet Kaur, Ravinder Singh and Veerpal Kaur, all Directors of NGAI Coaching & Training Directorate, Yograj Singh, National Coordinator, NGAI, Inderjeet Singh, Coordinator, Chandigarh Gatka Association, Ramanpreet Singh Tanda, State Coordinator, Gatka Association of Punjab, Ishvinder Singh from Rajasthan Gatka Association, Gurpreet Kaur, coach from Haryana, Gurjinder Singh, Husanpreet Kaur, Shehbaz Singh, Mandeep Singh, Daljit Singh.

Simranjeet Singh added that this camp served as a platform for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement, furthering the mission of NGAI to promote and preserve the rich heritage of Gatka both domestically and internationally.
