JASSAL COUPLE SHINES IN MASTER ATHLETICS

The Jassal-couple that has been motivating youth to maintain distance from drugs and make participating in sports competitions a part of life during their service in the Education Department, has also emerged as a role-model for veterans.

Jaspal Kaur Jassal (74) who had served different schools in Abohar area as a physical education teacher has again shown her dedication and passion towards sports at this age by participating in the 2nd Punjab Veteran Athletics Championship organized by New Gangsar Sports Club Jaito, she won two gold medals in javelin throw and discus throw competition.

Her spouse Gulshinder Singh Jassal, who had served as a language teacher, has also won a silver medal in javelin throw in the age group 30 to 90 years (men and women) in this competition.

Jaspal Kaur's father Joginder Singh, who passed away at the age of 98, used to participate in javelin throw, shot put events in Masters Athletic competitions held across the country. He was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award by the Indian Army also. The trio has so far won about two hundred medals in such competitions.
