DELHI POLICE IN A JOINT OPERATION WITH MATHURA POLICE NABS NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL LALIT IN EXCHANGE OF FIRE

• ONE .32 BORE PISTOL WITH FIVE LIVE CARTRIDGES AND A STOLEN BIKE ALSO RECOVERED FROM THE ACCUSED. • ARRESTED ACCUSED WAS WANTED IN SEVERAL SENSATIONAL CASES OF DACOITY AND ROBBERY IN DELHI AND IN SENSATIONAL CASE OF MURDER IN UP.

In the intervening night of 22/23.03.2024, in a combined operation team of Special Cell/Southern Range led by ACP Sh. Ved Parkash, Inspr. Pawan Kumar and Insp. Satvinder under the supervision of Sh. Amit Kaushik, DCP/Special Cell with Mathura (UP) Police, PS Shergarh led by SI Sonu Singh, Station Officer has rrested a notorious criminal namely Lalit Kumar (Age 28 yrs), s/o Har Swaroop, r/o 
Village Kakola, PS Lodha, District Aligarh, UP after a brief exchange of fire.

During the operation, accused fired 3 rounds at the police team, whereas the raiding team fired 1 gunshot in self-defence. One .32 bore pistol with five live cartridges was recovered from accused Lalit Kumar. Accused Lalit Kumar was wanted and evading court proceedings in many cases of dacoity and robbery in Delhi and in one sensational murder case of U.P. He used to commit dacoity and robbery along with his associates in police uniform.

INFORMATION AND OPERATION :There was information with Southern Range, Special Cell about the presence of Lalit Kumar and his associate in Mathura, UP, who were wanted and evading ourt proceedings in several cases of dacoity and robbery in Delhi and also in one sensational murder case of Aligarh, U.P. On the basis of input, a team led by Insp. Pawan Kumar, Insp. Satvinder and SI Sumit was sent to Mathura to nab the accused and his associate.

Mr. Amit Kaushik, dcP, Special Cell, said,  specific information was received that Lalit Kumar would come in the jurisdiction of Shergarh, Mathura (U.P.) between 00:30 am to 1:30 am on 23.3.24 on a Splendor bike to meet his associate. Consequently, a team comprising of Special Cell sleuths and staff from PS Shergarh, Mathura was formed and a trap was laid near Shergarh Koshi road near village Khadwai turn, Shergarh, Mathura (U.P.).

  

Mr. Amit Kaushik, dcP, Special Cell, said,  specific information was received that Lalit Kumar would come in the jurisdiction of Shergarh, Mathura (U.P.) between 00:30 am to 1:30 am on 23.3.24 on a Splendor bike to meet his associate. Consequently, a team comprising of Special Cell sleuths and staff from PS Shergarh, Mathura was formed and a trap was laid near Shergarh Koshi road near village Khadwai turn, Shergarh, Mathura (U.P.).

At about 00:50 am, one person riding on a bike was spotted coming from Koshi side towards Shergarh. He was asked to stop and surrender by the police eam. However, finding himself cornered, he started firing on the police team without any provocation. Members of team also fired in self-defense in which Lalit Kumar sustained gunshot injury in his left leg. One semi-automatic pistol of .32 bore with 5
live cartridges was recovered from Lalit Kumar. The injured Lalit Kumar was immediately rushed to CHC Hospital, Chhata and a case vide FIR No. 82/2024, dated 23.03.24, u/s 307/414 IPC & 3/25 Arms Act was registered at PS Shergarh, Mathura, UP in the matter.

Background and Criminal history: Accused Lalit Kumar came to Delhi in the year 2015 after completing his B.Tech in the search of job. In the pursuit of becoming rich quickly, he started resorting to looting and plundering. He opened a placement agency in Swaroop Nagar, Delhi to recruit boys in his gang.

Thereafter, he started committing dacoity and robbery in police uniform. He joined the gang of notorious criminals Amit Rana @ Jimmy and Naresh Bhati gang. In the same year, he along with his associates abducted his rival gang chief Chunnu Gupta from Jahangirpuri, Delhi and brutally
killed him in Khair, Aligarh, U.P.

Thereafter, they attempted to burn the body by putting petrol in an Innova car but the body was not completely burnt. When he was along with associates were arrested in this case then 70 mobile phones, 4 luxury cars robbed by them and police uniforms of Constable to Dy. S.P. were recovered
from their possession.

Lalit Kumar is a notorious and desperate criminal who has previously been involved in 19 criminal cases including murder, dacoity, robbery, NDPS Act, Cyber Fraud, Arms Act etc. in Delhi and U.P. Presently, he was not appearing before the court and evading court proceedings. His previous involvements are as under:-

Accused Lalit Kumar has also disclosed that the Splendor bike was stolen by  him from Sangam Vihar area of Delhi.
