BSF SEIZE 9.7KG OF HEROIN IN FAZILKA AREA

Vigilant soldiers of 66 Battalion BSF (under the Abohar Sector) seized 9 packets of heroin weighing about 9.7 Kg during a search operation near the international border in village Mohar Sona, in the jurisdiction of Sadar Fazilka police station.

The 66 Battalion BSF has increased intense vigil on the Indo-Pak border in view of the Lok Sabha election. A spokesman said that special operations are being carried out on the border and an attempt to smuggle heroin from Pakistan's side was foiled by alert soldiers.

Arun Kumar Verma, Commandant 66 Battalion BSF, said that 9 packets of heroin had been packed by the smugglers in long socks and the same were hidden in a field near the Indo-Pak border. It is suspected that the same might have been smuggled and placed in the field the previous night.  

A case u/s 21C/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Fazilka police station
