HARJEET GREWAL HONOURED WITH SIKH ACHIEVER'S AWARD FOR PROMOTING GATKA

EARLIER AWARDED WITH SEVA AWARD AND PUNJAB STATE AWARD, FULLY DETERMINED TO ELEVATE GATKA TO AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL: GREWAL

In a prestigious ceremony at Mumbai in Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium, Harjeet Singh Grewal, a dedicated Sikh officer working as Joint Director in Information and Public Relations department Punjab, was bestowed with the distinguished 'Sikh Achiever's Award'. Earlier to this he had been awarded with the 'Seva Award' at Dubai and State Award by the Punjab Government.

The event, organized by the Sat Sri Akal Charitable Trust Mumbai, celebrated the contributions of seven eminent Sikhs who have made significant societal impacts. The ceremony was enlivened by the performances of the well known singers Shamsher Lehri and Birender Dhillon and the eloquent performance by stage artist Satinder Kaur Satti.

Upon receiving the accolade, Harjeet Grewal, President of the World Gatka Federation, acknowledged the honor with gratitude. While thanking the trust chairman Puran Singh Banga and organisers, he highlighted the award's importance as a testament to his commitment to community service with more zeal and the inspiration it provides to further his efforts. 

A stalwart promoter for Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art, Harjeet Singh Grewal is instrumental in promoting and preserving this cultural heritage. His leadership as the President of the National Gatka Association of India, has been pivotal in securing Gatka's recognition as a competitive sport at various national events, including the National School Games, All India Inter-varsity Gatka Tournaments, Khelo India Youth Games, and the National Games.

A stalwart promoter for Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art, Harjeet Singh Grewal is instrumental in promoting and preserving this cultural heritage. His leadership as the President of the National Gatka Association of India, has been pivotal in securing Gatka's recognition as a competitive sport at various national events, including the National School Games, All India Inter-varsity Gatka Tournaments, Khelo India Youth Games, and the National Games.

His initiatives have also led to Gatka's inclusion in the Punjab sports department's state gradation list and integration of one lesson into the curriculum of the Punjab School Education Board. With an eye on the future, Punjab state award winner Harjeet Grewal is fully determined to elevate Gatka to an international level, advocating for its inclusion in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and ultimately, the Olympic Games.
