CHANDIGARH TRAFFIC POLICE PERSONNEL TRAINED IN ‘INITIAL MANAGEMENT AND RESUSCITATION OF ACUTE TRAUMA VICTIMS’ AT PGIMER

Chandigarh Traffic Police, under the guidance of Sh. Pushpendra Kumar, IPS, Director General of Police, and Sh. Sumer Pratap Singh, SSP/Security & Traffic, with the supervision of Sh. Lakshay Pandey, DSP/Road Safety & Development, continues to take proactive steps towards reducing road fatalities and raising public awareness about road safety.

As first responders to road accident victims, the Chandigarh Police is committed to public safety by strictly enforcing traffic regulations and providing immediate assistance to accident victims around the clock.

In line with this commitment, today, more than 100 Chandigarh Traffic Police personnel participated in a specialized training programme ‘Initial Management and Resuscitation of Acute Trauma Victims’, organized by the ‘Trauma Anesthesia’ team of the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh.

The session was conducted by a dedicated team of doctors from PGIMER, including Dr. Kajal Jain, Dr. Bismanjeet Khurana, Dr. Ashwani Thakur, Dr. Aditi Jain, Dr. Ananya Ray, Dr. Amit Sharma, Dr. Yojna Karka, Dr. Rajnikant Kumar, Dr. Ankita Goyal, Dr. Pritam Panigrahi, Dr. Sachin Kumar, Dr. Deepanshu, Dr. Revathi S Nair, Dr. Durga Chauhan, Dr. Soumya Sarkar, and Dr. Venkat Naidu.

The session was conducted by a dedicated team of doctors from PGIMER, including Dr. Kajal Jain, Dr. Bismanjeet Khurana, Dr. Ashwani Thakur, Dr. Aditi Jain, Dr. Ananya Ray, Dr. Amit Sharma, Dr. Yojna Karka, Dr. Rajnikant Kumar, Dr. Ankita Goyal, Dr. Pritam Panigrahi, Dr. Sachin Kumar, Dr. Deepanshu, Dr. Revathi S Nair, Dr. Durga Chauhan, Dr. Soumya Sarkar, and Dr. Venkat Naidu.

The session was inaugurated with a welcome address by Dr. Kajal Jain, who provided an overview of the training programme. The training aimed to equip police personnel with essential life-saving skills such as First Aid, CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation), and basic trauma care techniques to be administered before professional medical help arrives.

The comprehensive session covered critical topics including CPR Basics, Basic Life Support (BLS), Bleeding control techniques, Safe transport of trauma victims, Helmet removal, Cervical spine immobilization, Fracture splinting etc.

Inspector, Dr. Parvesh Sharma, In-charge, CTP, Sector-23, along with the awareness team, was present at the event. She emphasized the importance of such training in real-life scenarios to save precious lives and highlighted the critical role of First Aid in effective police response.

This initiative is part of Chandigarh Traffic Police’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and achieve the ultimate goal of zero accidental deaths in the city.
