PUNJAB SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES TO REMAIN CLOSED TILL SEPT. 7: HARJOT SINGH BAINS

The Punjab government on Wednesday announced the closure of all schools, colleges and universities till September 7 in view of the current flood situation in the state.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced in this regard. He said on his twitter handle 'X', as per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in view of the flood situation, all government/aided/recognised and private schools, colleges, universities and polytechnics across Punjab will remain closed till September 7, 2025.

Bains said, everyone is requested to strictly follow the guidelines of the local administration. Earlier, the government had declared holidays in all schools and colleges till September 3.

After heavy rains in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, there has been heavy flooding in Punjab due to the rise of Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers and seasonal drains. Rains in Punjab have worsened the flood situation in the state. The entire Punjab is affected by rain-related incidents in which 30 people have lost their lives and more than 3.50 lakh people have been affected.
