On the 44th Martyrdom Day of the veteran freedom fighter and messiah of journalism, Lala Jagat Narain, tribute was paid at a meeting organized by the Lekhak Parishad at Sahitya Sadan.
Parishad chief Raj Sadosh, in-charge of Sahitya Sadan Dr. Sandeep Watts, Sunil Bhardwaj, Advocate Sheetal Bajaj, Advocate Ashok Bajaj, Rajkumar, Satish Watts, Sunil Sokhal, Manish Kumar, Sandeep Nagpal, Dr. Yashik Middha, Pooja Rani etc offered flowers at Lala Ji’s portrait.
Raj Sadosh said that while studying in Lahore, Lalaji joined the patriots who blew the bugle of independence. He created awareness among the countrymen through the Urdu newspaper Hind Samachar. After the Independence, the family came to Jalandhar and established new dimensions in the field of Hindi and Punjabi journalism by launching Punjab Kesari and Jagbani along with Urdu publication.
Lalaji faced many challenges with strength. He had the privilege of working with Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai.
Dr. Watts said that Lala Jagat Narain used to have frank discussions with freedom fighter and former minister Lala Chandi Ram Verma, immortal educationist of the desert Swami Keshwanand and Ch. Hazari Lal Rinwa, during his Abohar visits.
Sunil Bhardwaj said that Lala ji was saddened by the fact that there is a feeling of lack somewhere in the realization of the dreams that the martyrs of independence cherished.
