BJP State President Sunil Jakhar visited the villages affected by heavy rain, overflowing Abulkhurana and floods across Fazilka district.
MLA Sandeep Jakhar in a memorandum said that the problem of waterlogging is increasing seriously in Abohar and Balluana areas. It is very important to solve this problem because the entire economy of this region is dependent on agriculture. Abohar and Balluana villages are known for crop diversity in the whole of Punjab and about 75,000 acres of area comes under horticulture (mainly Kinnow), which is the highest in the whole of Punjab. If the waterlogging problem is not checked in time, then all the fertile land of this region will be ruined, which will have a direct and deep economic impact.
The MLA said that in 2013, despite being the LoP, Sunil Jakhar, along with then Chief Minister of Punjab Prakash Singh Badal, met the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and got a special economic package from the central government to end the problem of waterlogging in Punjab at that time. In the same way, once again you are requested to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demand a special economic package to solve this serious problem growing in Abohar and Balluana constituencies, forever.
The BJP state chief said that he will soon prepare and submit a proposal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and make every effort to solve this problem. He said that he, being from the farmer's family, will always stand by their genuine demands.
