ECO-QUIZ COMPETITIONS, SEMINARS, EXHIBITIONS, TREE PLANTATION DRIVES, AND A WALKATHON AT SUKHNA LAKE ON NOVEMBER 16 TO PROMOTE A CLEAN AND GREEN LIFESTYLE

One of the region’s oldest and most active non-governmental organizations, The Environment Society of India (ESI), Chandigarh, is set to begin its Golden Jubilee Year celebrations from November 13, featuring a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation, awareness, and community participation.
Whitle interacting media persons, Dr. R.C. Mishra (IPS), President of ESI, informed that the society was founded 50 years ago, in 1976, with the mission of serving nature and humanity. As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, various events will be organized from November 13 to November 21 across Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali. These include eco-quiz competitions, seminars, exhibitions, and tree plantation drives at educational institutions.
To encourage a clean and green lifestyle, a Walkathon will be organized at Sukhna Lake on November 16 at 6:30 a.m. The event will witness participation from senior members of the society and noted environmentalists.
The valedictory function will be held on November 21 at the CSIO Auditorium, Sector 30, Chandigarh, where eminent dignitaries, environmental experts, and representatives from academic and government institutions will participate.

On this occasion, N.K. Jhingan, Secretary of the Society, highlighted that since its inception in 1976, ESI has been actively working for the conservation of natural resources, protection of heritage, and promotion of environmental awareness. He emphasized the crucial role of youth, schools, and citizens in building a sustainable and pollution-free future.
The Society has also invited students, institutions, and citizens to join the Environment Protection Brigade and actively participate in the Golden Jubilee programs.
