PUNJAB POLICE BUSTED INTERNATIONAL FAKE CURRENCY RACKET, TWO ACCUSED NABBED IN DERA BASSI WITH HUGE QUANITY OF FAKE CURRENCY NOTES

Punjab Police of Mohali Distt. reported too have busted international fake currency racket and arrested two accused with huge quantity of fake currency notes in Dera Bassi.

Giving detail SSP Harminder Hans said that Police had received secret information about the activities of two suspects from an international syndicate involved in the fake currency racket. After which, on the basis of a tip-off, the team recovered a large quantity of fake currency from the possession of the accused, identified as Sachin, a resident of Bharat Nagar, Pehowa, Kurukshetra (Haryana) and Gurdeep, a resident of Gurudev Nagar, Kurukshetra (Haryana).

The SSP said that special teams under the supervision of SP Rural Manpreet Singh and DSP Dera Bassi Bikramjit Singh Barar were constituted , consisting Inspector Sumit, Inspector Malkeet Singh (Incharge Anti-Narcotics Cell) and Inspector Malkeet Singh (Inspector-Narcotics-Inspector) to arrest the accused. The teams set up a checkpoint near Ghaghar bridge on the Ambala-Kalka highway. During this time, a white Scorpio (HR-41-M-6974) was stopped and searched.

During the search, currency worth Rs 11,05,000 and duplicate currency worth Rs 9 crore 88 lakh were recovered. Police said they recovered Rs 7,42,000 in old Rs 1,000 notes, Rs 3,50,000 in old Rs 2,000 notes and Rs 13,000 in new Rs 500 notes. The counterfeit currency includes 80 bundles of old Rs 1,000 notes (about Rs 80 lakh), 60 bundles of new Rs 500 notes (about Rs 30 lakh), 439 bundles of Rs 2,000 notes (about Rs 30 lakh). A total of Rs 9 crore was recovered. The accused had fraudulently stuffed genuine notes outside and fake notes inside the bundles. The accused have committed fraud in Punjab and neighboring states.

In this regard FIR No. 248, dated 01/10/2025, has been registered at Police Station Phase-1 Moha, Rajasthan and many other similar cases under Sections 406, 420, and 120-B of IPC in connection with the cheating of Rs 7 crore from a resident of Mohali in 2023. have been done. A new case has been registered under FIR No. 327 dated 13.11.25 under Sections 318(4), 178, 179, 180, and 18 of BN of the Der Bassi Police Station, and more arrests are likely.
