Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, launched a sharp attack on the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) during a press conference, accusing the party of attempting to revive its collapsed political standing in Punjab through gangsters.
Dhaliwal revealed that the recent arrest of a major gangster’s wife, Kanchanpreet Kaur, has exposed disturbing details of how gangsters and Akali Dal functioned hand-in-hand. “Sukhbir Badal’s Akali Dal has already lost its political existence in Punjab due to its own deeds. Now they are once again trying to enter Punjab’s politics through gangsters. This will not be allowed, not by the people, not by Punjab’s government, and not by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann,” he said.
He accused Akali Dal of nurturing gangsterism during its 10-year rule with the BJP, citing incidents such as the Putlighar Chowk killing, the Nabha jailbreak, and numerous cases where gangsters openly operated under political protection. “Gangsters raised slogans of Majithia after killing a police officer. What more proof does Punjab need?” Dhaliwal asked.
Referring to Kanchanpreet Kaur, Dhaliwal said the Akali Dal is hiding the fact that she is the wife of a notorious gangster with more than 30 FIRs against him. “Why is Akali Dal afraid to say she is a gangster’s wife? How did she come to Punjab? How did her immigration happend,” he added, accusing her of using her husband to threaten voters over the phone.
Dhaliwal warned that AAP’s government will not allow gangster-backed politics to re-emerge in Punjab. “No party will be permitted to use killers and criminals to regain political ground. Whoever promotes gangsterism, protects gangsters, or includes them in politics, action will be taken against all of them,” he asserted.
Calling it an issue of Punjab’s law and order and the dignity of its youth, Dhaliwal asked the people: “Do Punjabis accept Akali Dal’s attempt to again push Punjab towards violence? No Punjabi wants the return of murders and mafia politics.”
Dhaliwal reaffirmed that under CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab will not tolerate gangsterism or those who seek power through it. “Gangsters will not be allowed to interfere in Punjab's politics again. This is a clear message.”
