ANKUR NARULA’S REMARKS TERMED INSENSITIVE AND CONTRARY TO CHRISTIAN TEACHINGS

Face2News/Chandigarh:

Under the leadership of Robert William of the Pentecostal Church, Jagdish Masih of the National Christian League, and Sukhjinder Gill of Masih Ekta Sabha, Christian leaders from across Punjab, during a press conference held at the Chandigarh Press Club, strongly protested the statements made by Ankur Narula regarding the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Jalandhar. They urged the government to take strict action against Ankur Narula and his associates for their recent statements, actions, and alleged violations of several existing laws.

They also demanded the immediate removal of Jatinder Gaurav Masih from the post of Chairman, Punjab State Minority Commission, alleging that he is merely a proxy for Ankur Narula and works to promote him and his church. The leaders stated that he does not represent the Christian community and has done nothing for any other community apart from the church run by Ankur Narula.

Christian leaders termed Ankur Narula’s comments insensitive and against Christian teachings, and demanded an unconditional public apology from him. They said that the Holy Bible does not teach crime or violence but advocates a holy and righteous life. They further demanded that Narula personally meet the victim’s family and seek forgiveness.

They also condemned the incident of burning an effigy of Mata Charan Kaur, mother of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The speakers clarified that the Christian community has no connection with this incident and that the act was carried out solely by followers of Ankur Narula.

All speakers unanimously opposed the non-biblical procession taken out by Ankur Narula with bhangra, boliyan, giddha, loudspeakers, and DJs, terming it against Christian values and culture.

The speakers also strongly objected to claims by the Global Christian Action Committee that it represents the entire Christian community and to its use of terms such as “Masihi Brotherhood,” “Christian Society,” and “Masihi Samaj.” They said the committee should speak only in the name of its own church, as it represents only the Ankur Narula Ministry and should not mislead the public by projecting itself as the leader of the entire Christian community. They added that responsibility for its actions lies solely with the organization itself, and other Christians bear no responsibility for its deeds.

The Christian fraternity reiterated its full support to Punjab Bachao Morcha and its president Tejasvi Minhas, who are actively working against hypocrisy and superstition. They stated that Punjab Bachao Morcha supports Christians and Christianity and is only striving to free religion from fake pastors and so-called miracle healers who mislead people for personal gain and indulge in non-biblical activities.

Sukhjinder Gill demanded a ban on the social media accounts of those spreading superstition. He said that for the past few years in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, some individuals, under the guise of Christian preaching, have been spreading false propaganda.
