PCPNDT TEAM CONDUCTS DECOY OPERATION IN UDAIPUR, DOCTOR AND “AGENT” ARRESTED

The PCPNDT team of the Rajasthan Medical and Health Department conducted a successful decoy operation under the direction of Dr. Amit Yadav, MD of the National Health Mission in Udaipur and apprehended a female doctor and a female “agent” involved in sex determination of the fetus.

Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Hemant Jakhar said that based on secret information, the PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994) team contacted Pooja Sagar, an “agent” originally from UP, currently residing in Udaipur, sending a pregnant woman as a decoy. She allegedly charged Rs. 35,000 and took the pregnant decoy woman to a hospital and Test Tube Baby Center in Udaipur.

Later the “agent” and the pregnant woman came out. The “agent” took the pregnant woman to a diagnostic Center. After the examination, Pooja took the pregnant woman back to the Test Tube Baby Center. Upon receiving a signal from the pregnant woman, the team arrived at the spot and questioned the “agent” who and the pregnant woman revealed that the center's owner, Dr. Neena Saxena, allegedly demanded Rs. 30,000 as her share. After receiving the money, Dr. Neena told them that the fetus was a boy and that it was healthy.

On getting a signal, the team took Pooja Sagar and Dr. Neena Saxena into custody. Further investigation is underway.
