SAD (A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann slammed the state govt for not acting against cobra wire erected around fields and farm houses in Abohar’s Open Wildlife Sanctuary.
He strongly criticized the government for failing to protect black bucks, blue bulls and other animals in the sanctuary area. He said that the prohibitory orders notified in the past four years on sale and use of cobra wire proved to be a cosmetic ritual. Media had highlighted several times that farmers had erected wire fences around their fields and farm houses which emerged fatal not only for the protected species but also to men and women. Many farmers connect the wire with electricity devices also. The illegal practice was the major reason for a fall in the number of black bucks, blue bulls and other animals that decorate the sanctuary.
Mann also slammed the government for its “callous and undemocratic” attitude towards development work in the Abohar area which he described as totally unacceptable. He said that the AAP-led government had failed in implementing rule of the law and ensuring safety of people.
