UNION MINISTER OF STATE AJAY BHATT INAUGURATES NEW PREMISES OF THE CSD DEPOT IN AMBALA CANTT

Sh. Ajay Bhatt, Union Minister of State for Defence & Tourism inaugurated new premises of CSD Depot at Ambala in an impressive and solemn ceremony. In the inauguration ceremony, MD, DFCCIL, Sh.Ravindra Kr Jain was also present along with General Manager and Chairman Maj General Y P Khanduri, Joint General Managers, Senior CSD officials and Senior Officer of Army and Air Force of Ambala Cantt.

  During the inauguration, the Minister of State for Defence & Tourism appreciated the Modern Warehouse Design that has been designed and meets the requirement of Armed Forces deployed in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Chandigarh through a network of 141 Unit run Canteen located in far flung areas. These Canteens is a major source for the families of soldiers and Ex Service man who has dedicated their life for the nation.

The new premises have been constructed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. on behalf of the Indian Railways in exchange of the land of the previous premises, where critical position of the Corridor were coming up and it is urgently required to shift the present location to complete the project in a stipulated time period.

The project was completed in very limited time period of 24 months, and have all the state of the art facilities of warehousing and logistics required for important logistics organization of India, Canteen Stores Department, which is working under Ministry of Defence with an aim of “SERVICE TO SERVICES” through their chain of 34 Area Depots and 3500 URCs across the length and breadth of nation.

This project is a win-win situation, for both the parties i.e. CSD under Ministry of Defense and Indian Railway achieved their respective aim through co-operation and jointmanship. The Minister also visited the warehouse and was briefed on the various procedures of procurement and sale of items in the CSD.
