125496 cusecs of water were released from Hussainiwala headworks on Tuesday at 5 pm. All arrangements have been made by the district administration to evacuate the people safely from the villages due to the threat of floods in the border areas of Fazilka.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal visited Kawanwali Pattan and Pattan Post at Muhar Jamsher and checked the arrangements.

The DC said that the water being released from Hussainiwala has reached Kawanwali Pattan and Muhar Jamsher in heavy quantities but still more water is coming. The administration has appealed to the people in the villages west of the Sutlej creek to shift to safe places.

The DC also directed to run a control room in Muhar Jamsher as this village is surrounded by Pakistan on three sides while Sutlej creek is on one side. To ensure the safety of the residents, the administration has decided to establish a control room here.

The administration had arranged tractor trolleys. Apart from this, earthen bags are also being filled to avert any possible danger to the dhusi bandh of the creek. A 24-hour vigil is being kept at the Pattan.
