RTI DISCLOSURE: LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS AND APPEALS MADE BY SENIOR CITIZENS ARE ALSO LYING PENDING

Large number of complaints and Appeals made by Senior Citizens are also lying pending, which reveals in RTI discloures by Mr. R.K. Garg, RTI activist, who sought information under RTI Act, as many departments have not responded it is observed that large number of cases are lying pending and for delivering the justice to people.

Mr. Garg had asked, through use of RTI application, for details of cases/complaints, from all departments, pending for more than 3 years many departments have supplied the details of matters pending for more than 3 years as details appended below: 

*UT Secretariat has informed that Total number of pending cases for more than 3 years before Chief Administrator are 146 appeals. 

*Total number of pending cases for more than 3 years before the Special Secretary Finance -cum-Chief Administrator is 64 appeals 

*Total number of pending cases for more than 3 years regarding VAT Act before VAT tribunal is 9 appeals 

*As per Estate Branch of MC there are total 29 cases pending before The Chief Administrator Court

 *As per Tax Branch of MC there are 97 cases pending before various authorities 

*As per Fire & Rescue Services 5 cases are pending 4 before Secretary Local Govt and 1 before Sector 17 Police station. 

*As per reply from Excise and Taxation dept. there are 62 VAT cases pending for more than 3 years 

*As per Excise and Taxation dept. there are 118 appeals pending for more than 3 years

*As per Police deptt there are 83 FIRs pending for more than 3 years and 565 complaints are pending for more than 3 years. Maximum pending in in South Division.

*Police complaint Authority is not working since March 2020 and there are 46 complaints pending.

All department may be directed to make a list of pending cases/Complaints for more than 3 years and display on their Website for information of public 

*All pending matters be enlisted on E Office portal of administration so that all complainants would know the status of their complaints 

*Pendency of cases be cleared and brought to one year within next 6 months i.e.upto 31st March 2024
