Chairman of the Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) Mr. Kailash Bhagat said that soon there will be an agreement between the UAE and the Haryana government to export rice and sugar to the UAE, after which Haryana Rice and sugar will be exported.
This information came following Mr. Kailash Bhagat's meeting with several key figures in the UAE's basmati rice export industry. Mr. Kailash Bhagat, accompanied by a HAFED delegation, which included Dr. J. Ganesan, Managing Director of HAFED, and Mr. Rajneesh Sharma, General Manager (Marketing), visited the UAE to explore these export opportunities.
During the visit, Mr. Kailash Bhagat engaged with prominent basmati rice exporters in UAE. A meeting was held with a leading exporter of Basmati rice based in Dubai, following which an export deal of 1000 MT was finalised. Hafed chairman said that the deal has paved the way for increasing exports from the country on a large scale. Apart from this, a meeting was also held with Mr. Abdullah Ateeq Aldarmaki, Director of Silal Food and Technology, a leading government company of UAE related to food, which was fruitful.
Dr. J. Ganesan shared that HAFED recently secured an export order for 85,000 metric tons of Basmati rice valued at approximately Rs 850 crore from a major importer in Saudi Arabia. Of this order, 62,000 metric tons have already been successfully executed, with the remainder in the process of execution. Encouraged by this success in Saudi Arabia, HAFED is now planning to expand its export activities to other countries as well. Moreover, HAFED is directly procuring Basmati paddy from farmers for the purpose of exporting Basmati rice.
He further informed that soon there will be an agreement between the UAE and the Government of Haryana to export rice and sugar to the UAE. Abdullah Ateeq Aldarmaki, Director, Silal Food & Technology will visit Chandigarh to finalize the agreement.
