On the 42nd Balidan Diwas of the immortal martyr Lala Jagat Narain, considered the Messiah of Journalism, the Lekhak Parishad here paid an emotional tribute to him. Flowers were offered to Lala ji's portrait by Sunil Bhardwaj, Dharmendra Kumar, Jatin Dhawan, Deepak Mehta, Ankur Garg, Sanjeev Kandhari, Ram Kumar Nokhwal, Pradeep Kalra, Rajesh Gupta, Ashok Kumar Ramu etc.

Paying tribute to Lala ji, Parishad president Raj Sadosh said that while studying in Lahore, Lala ji joined the patriots who sounded the trumpet of independence and also created awareness among the countrymen through Urdu newspaper Hind Samachar. After the Independence, he came to Jalandhar and established new dimensions in the field of Urdu as well as Hindi and Punjabi journalism. While walking the difficult path of raising the voice of the people, he bravely faced many challenges. Even when the electricity connection of the printing press was cut, he created a history in the media world by running the printing press with a tractor.

About Lala ji's contact with Abohar, he said that Lala Jagat Narain ji had met veteran freedom fighters Lala Chandi Ram Verma and Swami Keshwanand many times during the freedom movement and after Independence. Lala ji was of the opinion that there was something lacking in realizing the ideals of freedom cherished by the martyrs. Lala ji's family is now dedicated to the service of the nation, follows his high ideals and has proved helpful to thousands of victim families through the Shaheed Parivar Fund.
