CBI ARRESTS PRINCIPAL CHIEF MATERIAL MANAGER OF NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY IN BRIBERY OF RS. 3 LAKH, RECOVEERED 2.61 CROREDURING SEARCHES

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reported to have  arrested a Principal Chief Material Manager (IRSS: 1988), North Eastern Railway (NER), Gorakhpur K.C. Joshi for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.Three Lakh from the Complainant. 

A case was registered on complaint against Principal Chief Material Manager (IRSS: 1988), NER, Gorakhpur on the allegations of demanding undue advantage of Rs. 7 Lakh for not cancelling the registration of the Complainant’s firm on GeM Portal. It was further alleged that the Complainant’s firm was supplying trucks to Railways on yearly contract @ Rs. 80,000/- per truck per month.

The complainant in this case is Pranav Tripathi, a resident of Allahabadpur, proprietor of Sukti Associate firm, who on September 9 told the CBI that his firm supplies goods to the Railways.In a letter written to Lucknow SP, CBI, ACB, Pranab Tripathi had said that North Eastern Railway Chief Material Manager KC Joshi was demanding a bribe of Rs 7 lakh from him. He has threatened to cancel the registration of the firm on GeM portal if the money is not paid. 

  CBI laid a trap and caught the accused on accepting undue advantage of Rs.3 lakh from the Complainant. 
Searches were conducted at the official & residential premises of accused at Gorakhpur and Noida (Uttar Pradesh) which led to recovery of cash of Rs. 2.61 Crore & incriminating documents. Accused is remanded to CBI custody for further investigation.

CBI had registered the case on the basis of this complaint. The CBI team laid a trap to catch the officer and caught PCMM along with the money in his bungalow itself. 

It was told that CBI has also raided the residence located in Sector 50 of Noida. The team got Rs 50 lakh in cash from there. Apart from this, many other important documents have also been seized by CBI.
