POLICE OFFICIALS RELEASED AFTER HIGH VOLTAGE DRAMA

Two police cops belonging to Jalandhar (Rural) district who had come here as a part of an ongoing operation to recover drugs, were apprehended by the BSF sleuths and later handed over to the police for the investigations.Later the Counter Intelligence wing of the police cleared that there was some "confusion" and both officials were on duty and we're coming back after a recovery of 1.710 Kg Heroin on the basis of the information provided by one of the arrested smugglers.

Earlier, last night around 9:30 pm, high voltage drama was witnessed when some villagers belonging to Tendiwala informed the BSF officials that two police cops were going towards Ferozepur with heroin which was hidden in the bonnet of the car in which they were travelling following which the BSF officials alerted their Naka party which apprehended the car at Jalloke Chowk.

BSF officials said that earlier the duo denied about any drugs being in their possession, however later during the search of their car, two packets of heroin were recovered. Besides the police personnel were also carrying .32 bore revolver and 13 rounds. These officials were taken into the custody by the BSF and brought to border outpost Shameke. Later, the SSP and other senior officials were informed following which Randhir Kumar SP Detective others reached the spot and carried out the preliminary investigations.

However the situation was cleared today following which these officials were released.

Meanwhile the police has registered an FIR against unidentified persons at State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Fazilka. Later, the Punjab Police social media handles also tweeted about the recovery of drugs
