POLICE ARRESTS SP DETECTIVE, CIA INCHARGE AND HEAD CONSTABLE ON TORTURING SRI MUKATSAR SAHIB LAWYER

Amidst big protest by Punjab and Haryana Bar Council and various Bar Associations of State, Punjab Police ultimately arrested Sri Mukatsar Sahib SP Detective, incharge CIA Staff and Senior Constasble on  charge of merciless torturing of a Lawyer.

This was disclosed by  Jasmeet Singh Bhatia, Honorary Secretary, Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association.  More detail is still awaited. 

Earlier The  Bar Association of Punjab and Haryana Highcourt submits Charter of Demands with regard to inhumane and torturous act committed upon Advocate Varinder Singh Practicing Lawyer in the District Court Sri Muktsar Sahib in Police Custody by registering a false and fabricated case upon him.  

The General House meeting of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Bar Association, Chandigarh has been convened  on Tuesday , in which the General House has strongly condemned the torturous, inhumane and barbarocis acts committed by the erring police officials on Sh. Varinder Singh, Advocate, practicing at Sri Muktsar Sahib, by the Sri Muktsar Sahib police. 

The General House of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has unanimously resolved to indefinitely abstain from work with effect from 26.09.2023, in solidarity with our colleague, a member of Bar Association of Sri Muktsar Sahib who has been subjected to inhumane torture by accused police officials. The said strike shall continue indefinitely till the following demands of the lawyers are met in toto. 

DEMANDS OF ADVOCATES:

*Cancellation of false / frivolous case / FIR No. 153 dated 15.09.2023 registered under Sections 332, 353, 186 and 427 IPC at Police Station City Sri Muktsar Sahib against Sh. Varinder Singh, Advocate.

*Handing over/transferring of the investigation of case/ FIR No. 145 dated 25.09.2023 registered under Sections 377, 342, 323, 149 and 506 IPC at Police Station Sadar, Sri Muktsar Sahib without any further delay to Central Bureau Investigation (CBI).

*Addition of offences under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code and Information and Technology Act, 2000 in the abovesaid case/ FIR No. 145 dated 25.09.2023 registered at Police Station Sadar, Sri Muktsar Sahib.
