HOME TOWN PAYS MUSICAL HOMAGE TO JAGJIT SINGH

An impressive programme was organised to pay a befitting homage to Ghazal Samrat Padma Vibhushan Jagjit Singh by Rashtriya Kala Mandir (RKM) Sriganganagar on his 83rd birth anniversary.

The program started at the RKM Auditorium with the Chief Guest, Managing Director (MD) of Shri Balaji Multi Commodities Pvt. Ltd. and RKM President, Virendra Baid garlanding the portrait of Jagjit Singh and lighting the lamp in front of the portrait of Maa Saraswati.

Sunil Soni, Sunita, Kamlesh Kalyana and Sunil Sharma enthralled the audience with melodious songs and Punjabi “tappe”. Virendra Baid and Secretary Shiv Jalan welcomed the guests. Baid said that Jagjit Singh was encouraged by the RKM in the initial days and later scaled heights.

Baid and Jalan appreciated the art of singers, artists and accompanists. Kapil Kalra on keyboard, Kuldeep on Octapad and Sunil Maurya on tabla supported the singing stars. All the artists were honored by the organisers with mementos. The stage was beautifully coordinated by Rakesh Monga.
