DELHI POLICE NABS SANGRUR AGENT TRYING TO SEEK ARRIVAL CLEARANCE AT IGI AIRPORT ON SOMEONE ELSE PASSPORT

IGI AIRPORT TEAM’S REMARKABLE BREAKTHROUGH  
ARRANGED PASSPORT OF ANOTHER PERSON FOR JOURNEY TO JORDAN,  PAX ARRIVED FROM JORDAN VIA SHARJAH, TRYING TO SEEK ARRIVAL CLEARANCE AT IGI AIRPORT ON SOMEONE ELSE PASSPORT,  DEPARTED IN MARCH 2018.

Staff of PS IGI Airport arrested one agent namely Gurjant Singh S/o Mahinder Singh R/o Village- Salempur, PS Sherpur, Distt- Sangrur, Punjab Age-54 Years in Case FIR No. 18/2021, Dated 22.01.2021, U/S 419/420/120B IPC & 12 PP Act, PS IGI Airport, New Delhi. He was involved in a syndicate which used to arrange passports of another person’s for sending people abroad on lucrative prices. They started cheating innocent people in order to earn easy money.

The facts of the case are that in the intervening night of 21/22-01-2021, one Indian pax arrived at IGIA Airport, Delhi from Amman, Jordon via Sharjah by a flight. During immigration clearance, the pax produced a passport issued in the name of Jagraj Singh S/o Jeet Singh. On scrutiny of travel documents, when the image of the pax was matched with the photo available in the presented passport, it did not match.

During further scrutiny, it was revealed that the pax had departed to Jordon in March 2018. On questioning, the pax revealed his actual name as Rajinder Singh S/o Kewal Singh R/o VPO-Bhudan, PS Malerkotla, Tehsil-Malerkotla, District-Sangrur, Punjab. As the pax cheated Indian Immigration by travelling on someone else’s passport, a Case FIR No. 18/2021, Dated 22.01.2021, U/S 419/420/120B IPC & 12 PP Act, PS IGI Airport, New Delhi was registered accordingly and investigation of the case was taken up.

Team & Investigation:-

During course of investigation of the case, pax Rajinder Singh S/o Kewal Singh R/o VPO-Bhudan, PS Malerkotla, Tehsil-Malerkotla, District-Sangrur, Punjab was arrested in the case. On interrogation of accused, he disclosed that he was not known to any person in the name of Jagraj Singh. One agent namely Gurjant Singh had arranged passport for his journey to Jordon in the lieu of one lakh rupees.

During course of further investigation, efforts were made to nab the agent, but despite best efforts, he managed to flee.

Usha Rangnani, IPS, DCP, IGI Airport, said, based on an input, the team managed to nab absconding agent Gurjant Singh S/o Mahinder Singh R/o Village- Salempur, PS Sherpur, Distt- Sangrur, Punjab Age-54 years from one of his hideouts in Punjab. The accused confessed his crime and disclosed that he has been studied up to 10th class and is presently working as a lineman in Electricity department at Punjab. To earn easy money, he came in contact with some other agents of Punjab and started cheating people in the name of sending abroad. 

Based on an input and to nab the absconding agents, a dedicated team led by Insp. Vijender Rana, SHO/IGI Airport, comprising of W/SI Sunita Maan and HC Vinit was constituted under the close supervision of ACP/IGI Airport and overall supervision of the undersigned. The team was briefed properly and tasked to nab the absconding agent at the earliest.

After sincere and dedicated efforts of the team, accused Jagraj Singh S/o Jeet Singh R/o Sangrur, Dhoori, Punjab age 31 years was traced and arrested in the case. On sustained interrogation, he confessed his crime and disclosed that he made his passport in the year 2016 but he could not go to abroad due to insufficient funds.

Thereafter, he came in touch with accused agent Gurjant Singh who allured him for providing his passport for someone else journey and promised to give a handsome amount in exchange. On the assurance of the agent, accused Jagraj Singh gave his passport to him and received Rs 70,000/- in exchange.

He further confessed that in this case, he arranged passport of Jagraj Singh for pax Rajender for his journey to Jordon. Accused Gurjant Singh disclosed that he started cheating people in order to earn quick money.

Investigation of the case is in progress to unearth the involvement of other agents and to scrutinize bank accounts of the accused and to trace his possible involvement in other similar complaints/cases also. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
