Punjab Pradesh Congress Treasurer and former MLA Amit Vij said that giving the status of terrorists to farmers by the ruling party at the Center is an insult to Lord Ram and such leaders are criminals of Lord Ram. He said in the speech issued here that it is the food giver who produces the food offered to God.
Vij said that if the government does not give MSP to the farmers and does not waive their loans, then 70 percent of the farmers' land will come into the hands of big houses. He appealed to the Central Government to stop the policy of crushing the farmers. He said that by bringing the first three black laws, he shook the whole country.
Farmers staged a protest in Delhi for more than a year, in which more than 700 farmers had to sacrifice their lives.
He called it a big conspiracy of the government. He said that more than 70 percent of the farmers in the states are in debt and are forced to sell their lands to get rid of it. He said that on one hand the government can waive off the loans of big industrialists, while they sell their crops in the market after adding the cost of their machines, bank interest and expenses, then why not by linking the farmers' crops with the MSP. He said that during its 10-year tenure, Congress waived off loans of farmers worth Rs 2.2 lakh crore, whereas the present BJP government at the Center has waived off loans worth Rs 14.5 lakh crore of industrialists. If the government can provide benefits to industrialists, then Rs 14 lakh crore of farmers will be waived off. Why can't the loans be forgiven?

Pointing fingers at the intentions of the Central Government, Vij said that even after 6 meetings of the 27-member committee formed on MSP in July 2022 and 37 meetings of the sub-committee, if there is still anything left to discuss, then everyone is in trouble. He said that the figure of Rs 17 lakh crore being given by the Central Government for MSP is wrong, the farmers will have to bear the burden of only Rs 2 to 2.5 lakh crore for MSP.
He said that the Central Government should bring ordinance to implement MSP for the farmers and also make a law so that the land of the farmers cannot be taken over by force. Vij expressed deep condolences to the family of a Gurdaspur farmer who died in the recent farmers' protest.
