BM Education Chandigarh Half Marathon is being organized in Chandigarh to mark the World Health Day in order to keep the youth away from drugs and increase their passion for sports. Nearly 1000 runners from Chandigarh and the tricity are expected to take part in the marathon to be held on April 7. The theme of the marathon is Run Against drugs, Run for Life.
During a press conference held at Chandigarh Press Club on Thursday, representatives of organizer Sarmang Society and Sarmang Adventure Tours announced that this marathon will start from Chandigarh Club, Sector 1 and take a U turn from IT Park and conclude at the starting point .
During the discussion Taranjeet Kaur, General Manager, Curagers, Nursing partner for the event shared the importance of Physiotherapy and post race stretching. Present on this occasion, Mr Aman, Manager BM Education Chandigarh the title sponsor of the event, 58 year old veteran runner Harjit Singh and Fit Foundation representative Akash also called for enthusiastic participation in this marathon.
Apart from the half marathon, participants will also be able to take part in ten and five kilometer runs. A two kilometer fun run will also be organized to increase interest in running among children. Race Director Anil Mohan said that in July last year a half marathon was organized by them wherein a widespread enthusiasm was seen. This year, the half marathon is returning to the city on the occasion of World Health Day.
He emphasized that such events prove to be meaningful in keeping the youth away from drugs. He called upon the youth to make this form of sport - running a part of their daily routine so that they will always remain healthy and fit. He informed us that all preparations for the event have been completed. The half marathon will start at 5.30 am followed by other categories.
