To pay tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter Mangal Pandey, a special meeting of Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation was today held at the Democratic Lawn of Lahore High Court Bar under the chairmanship of Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman of the Foundation.
Raja Zulqarnain Advocate Supreme Court, Khalid Zaman Kakar Advocate, Dr. Shahid Naseer, Malik Ehtisham ul Hasan, Shehbaz Rashid Qureshi Advocate, Noor Muhammad Kasuri Chairman Pak India Business Forum, Chaudhry Zubair Ahmed Farooq Advocate Supreme Court, Rana Abdul Hameed Advocate Supreme Court and others were present.
The Foundation said that it has been 167 years since the martyrdom of Mangal Pandey who was the hero of freedom and had the courage to speak against the British even while he was in the service of the British and as a reward for this, he was martyred. The panicked government was supposed to hang him on April 18, but he was hanged on April 8, 1857. Those who killed him disappeared but brave people like Pandey are still alive in history.
