In a concerted effort to ensure the safety of school children during transportation, rigorous enforcement measures have been undertaken from 8th April, to 22nd April , 2024. The focus of this operation was to address any violations and ensure compliance with safety regulations among vehicles engaged in ferrying school kids.
During the enforcement period 59 school buses were issued challans, with 1 bus impounded for severe violations. 85 autos were challaned, and 14 autos were impounded due to non-compliance. 32 taxis and cabs faced challans, with 1 vehicle impounded for violations. In total, 192 violations were recorded, leading to 16 vehicles impounded.

Prior to this enforcement operation, the State Transport Authority (STA) issued a crucial directive to all school bus operators within the region. This directive emphasizes the importance of upholding safety and security standards outlined in the STRAPS Policy by the Chandigarh Administration. The aim is to enhance the protection of students during their daily commute to and from educational institutions.
