DELHI IGI AIRPORT POLICE APPREHENDED TWO PUNJAB BASED AGENTS , ARRANGED PASSPORT OF ANOTHER PERSON

ARRANGED PASSPORT OF ANOTHER PERSON FOR THE JOURNEY OF THE PAX TO CANADA., PAX ARRIVED AT IGI AIRPORT:  INTENDED TO TRAVEL TO TORONTO, CANADA.  CAUGHT DURING SCRUTINY OF HIS TRAVEL DOCUMENTS. PAX WENT TO USA ILLEGALLY IN YEAR 2019 & WAS DEPORTED BACK TO AMRITSAR AIRPORT IN MAY 2020. ONE CASE REGISTERED IN PUNJAB AGAINST HIM.

Staff of PS IGI Airport arrested two fraudster agents namely Sapinder Singh S/o Narmail Singh R/o Village-Jarauth, Distt-Mohali, Punjab Age 32 Yrs & Jagdev Singh Aujala S/o Ujagar Singh R/o Patiala Punjab Age 35 Yrs in Case FIR No 332/2024 U/S 419/420/468/471/34 IPC & 12 PP Act Dated 9.05.2024 PS IGI Airport, New Delhi. The agent had arranged someone else’s passport for the journey of the pax to Canada. 

The facts of the case are that in the intervening night of 8-9/05/24, one Indian pax approached at IGI Airport, Delhi to take a flight to Toronto, Canada. During the check-in process, the pax produced an Indian passport issued in the name of Hardeep Singh S/o Gurjant Singh. During scrutiny of his travel documents, the photograph affixed on the presented passport did not found match with the pax.

On interrogation, pax confessed that he wanted to travel on someone’s else passport issued in the name of one Hardeep Singh and his real identity was established as Navjot Singh s/o Gurmeet Singh R/o Village-Mallour, Near Shiv Mandir, Ps-Naggal, Distt-Ambala, Haryana Age 30 years.

As the pax tried to travel on someone else’s passport and cheated Indian Immigration, a case FIR No. 332/2024 U/S 419/420/468/471/34 IPC & 12 PP Act Dated 9.05.2024 PS IGI Airport, New Delhi was registered accordingly and investigation of the case was taken up. 

During course of the investigation of the case, pax Navjot Singh was arrested in the case. On interrogation, he disclosed that many persons of his village had gone abroad for better livelihood. He also planned to go abroad for earning easy money and for a better livelihood.

The accused further disclosed that in the year 2019, he went to USA via donkey route through one agent namely Kaptan near his village.

In May 2020, he was deported back to Amritsar Airport, India and one case was also registered against him in this regard in Punjab. After coming back, he started farming but he was not satisfied with the money earning from farming. Thereafter, he made a plan to go abroad again. So, he met with one agent namely Sapinder Singh through one of his friends, who assured him to send Canada illegally in lieu of 28 lakh rupees.

The agent Sapinder Singh with the help of his associate agent Jagdev Singh Aujala arranged the passport of one Hardeep Singh whose looks were similar to the pax, for his journey to Canada. He also disclosed that he had given Rs 6 lakhs in cash to the agent Sapinder Singh and it was decided that the rest of the amount would be paid after reaching the destination point. The pax also revealed that the agent arranged all hotel stay arrangements and ticket bookings but he was caught at IGI Airport, Delhi.

USHA Rangrani,  IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police IGI Airport, said, during course of further investigation, raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of the agent Sapinder Singh on the instance of the pax & based on local intelligence and technical surveillance coupled with sincere and dedicated efforts, accused Sapinder Singh S/o Narmail Singh R/o Village-Jarauth, Distt-Mohali, Punjab Age 32 Yrs was nabbed from one of his hideouts in Patiala, Punjab and arrested in the case.


A dedicated team led by Insp. Rajkumar Yadav, ATO/IGI Airport, comprising SI Rajesh and HC Ashok was constituted under the close supervision of Sh. VKPS Yadav, ACP/IGI Airport and overall supervision of the undersigned. The team was briefed properly and tasked to nab the absconding agents at the earliest.

Commissioner of Police IGI Airport, said, during course of further investigation, raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of the agent Sapinder Singh on the instance of the pax & based on local intelligence and technical surveillance coupled with sincere and dedicated efforts, accused Sapinder Singh S/o Narmail Singh R/o Village-Jarauth, Distt-Mohali, Punjab Age 32 Yrs was nabbed from one of his hideouts in Patiala, Punjab and arrested in the case.

On sustained interrogation, he confessed his crime and disclosed that he had met with the pax through one of his friends and he along with the help of his associate agent Jagdev Sing Aujala arranged the passport of one Hardeep Singh whose looks were similar to the pax, for the journey of the pax to Canada in lieu of Rs 28 lakhs. The accused also revealed that he along with the help of his associates arranged all hotel arrangements and ticket bookings of the pax for his journey and took Rs 6 lakhs in cash from him out of which he gave Rs 3 lakhs to his associate agent Jagdev Sing Aujala and it was decided that rest amount would be paid after reaching the destination point.

On the instance of accused Sapinder Singh, associate agent Jagdev Singh Aujala S/o Ujagar Singh R/o Patiala Punjab Age 35 Yrs was also arrested from Patiala, Punjab. On interrogation, he also confessed his guilt in the case.

Investigation of the case is in progress to unearth the involvement of other associates/agents and to scrutinize bank accounts of the accused and to trace their possible involvement in other similar complaints/cases also.

KNOW THE ACCUSED: Sapinder Singh S/o Narmail Singh R/o Village-Jarauth, Distt-Mohali, Punjab Age 32 Yrs.,  Jagdev Singh Aujala S/o Ujagar Singh R/o Patiala Punjab Age 35 Yrs.,  Navjot Singh s/o Gurmeet Singh R/o Village-Mallour, Near Shiv Mandir, Ps-Naggal, Distt-Ambala, Haryana Age 30 years. Further investigation of the case is in progress.

All passengers are requested to approach authorized agencies to procure their documentation for going abroad and do not fall in the trap of fraudulent agents who offer the journey abroad at cheaper rates.
