DELHI IGI AIRPORT POLICE NABS ONE MORE PUNJAB AGENT PROVIDING PASSPORT TO PAX IN CYPRUS

GAVE PASSPORT TO THE PAX IN CYPRUS FOR HIS JOURNEY TO INDIA. AGENT HAD MADE ASYLUM CERTIFICATE OF CYPRUS, PAX DEPORTED FROM CYPRUS, PAX WENT TO CYPRUS IN 2018 ON STUDENT VISA. AFTER EXPIRY OF STUDENT VISA, STAYED ILLEGALLY THERE., IN 2020, PAX ALSO MADE ASYLUM CERTIFICATE ON THE ADVICE OF AGENT. IN 2022, THE ASYLUM CERTIFICATE OF THE PAX DID NOT RENEWED, SO AGENT GAVE HIS PASSPORT TO HIM IN LIEU OF RS 2 LAKHS, DEPORTED TO INDIA ON THE PASSPORT OF THE AGENT IN 2023.

Staff of PS IGI Airport arrested one fraudster agent namely Thomas S/o Rachpal Masih R/o Village-Dalla, Post- Qadian, Tehsil-Batala, Distt-Gurdaspur, Punjab Age 27 Yrs in Case FIR No 497/2023 U/S 419/420 IPC Dated 17.08.2023 PS IGI Airport, New Delhi. The agent gave his passport to the pax for his journey from Cyprus to India. 

The facts of the case are that on 17/08/23, one Indian pax namely Thomas Masih S/o Rupa Masih R/o VPO- Massanian, Tehsil-Batala, Gurudaspur, Punjab Age 26 years arrived at IGI Airport from Cyprus and approached for arrival Immigration clearance with a passport issued in the name of Thomas.

During scrutiny of his travel documents, it was found that the pax had previously travelled to Cyprus in the year 2018 on the strength of a student Visa on another passport issued in the name of Thomas Masih in which his date of birth was also different from the presented passport by him. As the pax hid his original identity by impersonating himself and cheated Indian Immigration, a case FIR No 497/2023 U/S 419/420 IPC Dated 17.08.2023 PS IGI Airport, New Delhi was registered accordingly and investigation of the case was taken up.

INVESTIGATION: during course of the investigation of the case, pax Thomas Masih S/o Rupa Masih R/o VPO-Massanian, Tehsil-Batala, Gurudaspur, Punjab was arrested in the case. On interrogation, he disclosed that many persons from his village had gone Cyprus on student visas and for better livelihood. He also planned to go Cyprus to earn easy money and for a better livelihood. Thereafter, in 2017, he made his passport from Jalandhar and applied in Phillips college, Cyprus for Graduation course. After some days, he received the acceptance letter from Phillips College. The pax further disclosed that in Sept 2018, he went to Cyprus from IGI Airport, Delhi on a student Visa on his passport.

The validity of his student Visa was one year. After one year, neither he deposited fees in his college nor he got renewed his student Visa and started living there illegally. In Cyprus, he met with one person namely Thomas who belongs near to his village. Thomas had also come in Cyprus on student Visa but after expiring his Visa, he made Asylum Certificate of Cyprus. The pax further revealed that with the advice of Thomas, he also made Asylum Certificate in 2020 but in 2022, when he tried to renew his Asylum certificate, it could not be renewed. So, Thomas gave his passport to him in lieu of Rs 2 lakhs so that nobody would make any type of question from him. In 17-08-23, he was deported to India from Cyprus on the passport of Thomas.

On the basis of an input, a dedicated team led by Insp. Rajkumar Yadav, ATO/IGI Airport, comprising W/SI Pratima and HC Dalbir was constituted under the close supervision of Sh. VKPS Yadav, ACP/IGI Airport and overall supervision of the undersigned. The team was briefed properly and tasked to nab the agent Thomas at the earliest.

Usha Rangnani, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Policem IGI Airport, said based on local intelligence and after sincere and dedicated efforts, accused Thomas S/o Rachpal Masih R/o Village-Dalla, Post-Qadian, Tehsil-Batala, Distt-Gurdaspur, Punjab Age 27 Yrs was nabbed from near IGI Airport, Delhi and arrested in the case.

On sustained interrogation, he confessed his guilt in the case and disclosed that he had met with the pax in Cyprus and on his advice, the pax had made Asylum certificate of Cyprus but in 2022, it could not be renewed. So he gave his passport to the pax in lieu of Rs 2 lakhs for his journey.

Investigation of the case is in progress to scrutinize the bank accounts of the accused and to trace his possible involvement in other similar complaints/cases also.Earlier two Punjab agent also nabbed by the IGI Airport Police.
