ACCUSED IMPERSONATING THEMSELVES AS EXECUTIVES OF ONLINE SUPPORT FOR INTERNET GIANTS LIKE MICROSOFT., CALL CENTER WAS OPERATING FROM A HOUSE AT SEC 19, DWARKA, DELHI AND ALSO FROM H. NO. 137, OLD POLE NO. 02, NEW POLE NO. 1932, SECTOR-19, DWARKA, DELHI.,11 LAPTOPS HAVING SCRIPTS OF CALLS, DIFFERENT SOFTWARES FOR FACILITATING CALLS, 07 ROUTERS, 15 MOBILE PHONES WITH CHATS AND BULKY DATA OF VICTIMS RECOVERED FROM THEIR POSSEISSION.

On 14.05.2024 a secret information was received that a call center is being run at 3rd Floor, Sec 19, Dwarka, Delhi and is involved in large scale cyber cheating with U.S. citizens, impersonating as executives of Microsoft and inducing them to pay money in lieu of promise to solve non-existent problems.
SI Rahul and ASI Mangtu Ram along with police team and secret informer reached the spot, where on pointing of secret informer, the call center was found operational at 3rd Floor of the said building. A total of 07 persons - 05 Males and 02 Females were found working there. These persons used to call with English names in order to impersonate as executives of Microsoft. They were cheating innocent people based abroad (USA) on the pretext of solving a non-existent problem created by them and their associates, were charging hefty amounts in the form of different Gift Cards. Persons involved in this illegal operation were found using high end technical softwares such as eyebeam/XLite for making/receiving calls impersonating USA Numbers and as Microsoft Support executives.
Accused also installed in the laptops virtual private networks, masking their IP addresses in order to remain scott-free. The laptops were checked and it was found that they were using high-end technical softwares such as “MicroSIP,” “ULTRAVIEWER,” and “EYEBEAM” dialer to make calls impersonating US numbers. For remote desktop connections, they used softwares namely “AnyDesk, Ultraviewer”. Fraudsters were engaged in using illegal techniques, VOIP calling, bypassing legal International Long Distance (ILD) Gateways, thus causing wrongful loss to the Government Exchequer and wrongful gain to themselves. They cheated innocent people based abroad (USA). Upon checking the recovered laptops, it was found that in all the laptops there were notepads showing details of mobile numbers of victims, their email IDs and money taken from them. There are also recorded call conversations in the laptops. In one of the Laptops, there was continuous chat regarding their illegal operation of cheating foreign citizens. On the above basis, the material recovered and facts found in the said call center premises, a case vide FIR No. 118/2024, U/S 419/420/120B/34 IPC & 66C & 66D IT Act, P.S. Dwarka Sec-23, District Dwarka has been registered on 14.05.2024 and further investigation has been taken up. Accused Rehan @Ben was arrested and taken in police custody. Raid was conducted on instance of accused Rehan at 2nd rented premises of the syndicate where another call center was found being run i.e. at H No.- 137, Old Pole No. 2, New Pole No. 1932, Sector-19, Dwarka which was also searched and 04 laptops with chargers, Wi-Fi routers were found, same have been seized and taken in police possession.
OPERATIONAL TEAM: - A team was constituted under supervision of Inspector Sunil Kumar Rajain SHO/Dwarka Sec-23 comprising Insp. Sandeep Malik No. D-4537, SI Rahul No. D-6453, ASI Mangtu Ram No. 451/DW, W/Ct Forntee No. 2421/DW and under overall supervision of ACP Dwarka/Sh. Madan Lal Meena.
Mr. Ankit Singh, IPS, DCP, Dwarka, said, during course of investigation, the partners of the alleged call center set up, Rehan and his 6 other associates have been arrested. Accused persons are found engaged in using illegal techniques, VOIP calling, bypassing the legal International Long Distance (ILD) Gateways and thus causing wrongful loss to Government Exchequer and wrongful gain to themselves. They were cheating innocent people based in abroad (USA) on the pretext of solving a nonexistent problem created by them and their associates and charging hefty amount for the same.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS: -Accused Rehan has passed class 12th. He had no interest in studies and thus he quit studies and did some private job. But he needed money and then he came to know about about fake call center being run by one Sidharth who also taught him how to manage all calls and how to cash the cheated money. He started working for him about 6-7 months ago at H. No. 377, 3rd Floor, Sec 19, Dwarka, Delhi and then over a period they hired 06 other persons for their fake call center setup in South-West Delhi.
RECOVERY: -15 Smart Phones, 11 Laptops & chargers, 7 Routers, Bulky Data of Probable Victims
MODUS OPERANDI: Mr. Ankit Singh, IPS, DCP, Dwarka, said, during course of investigation, the partners of the alleged call center set up, Rehan and his 6 other associates have been arrested. Accused persons are found engaged in using illegal techniques, VOIP calling, bypassing the legal International Long Distance (ILD) Gateways and thus causing wrongful loss to Government Exchequer and wrongful gain to themselves. They were cheating innocent people based in abroad (USA) on the pretext of solving a nonexistent problem created by them and their associates and charging hefty amount for the same. They stated that this call center is being run by Avinash @ Sidharth, Manu, Kunal and Harry and these persons manage other persons and provide international/USA numbers, used to arrange all the services of calls and of conversion of cheated gift cards valued to Indian Rupees. Further investigation of the case is being carried out in respect of total cheated money and regarding co-accused Sidharath and others.
