JIMPA ISSUES STRICT INSTRUCTIONS TO TOP BRASS FOR COMPREHENSIVE REFORMS IN REVENUE DEPARTMENT

LOK ADALATS TO COMMENCE AGAIN IN PUNJAB AFTER DIRECTIONS OF CHIEF MINISTER: JIMPA, DIRECTS FIELD OFFICERS TO FIX MEETING HOURS FOR COMMON PEOPLE, INSTRUCTS FOR TIMELY RESOLUTION OF COMPLAINTS RECEIVED ON HELPLINE NUMBER OF REVENUE DEPARTMENT, NO LAXITY BY ANY OFFICER/OFFICIAL TO BE TOLERATED: REVENUE MINISTER

The Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister, Punjab, Bram Shanker Jimpa today in a meeting of the top brass of the department directed the officers to radically reform in a comprehensive manner the working mechanism of the Department.

He said that as per the directions of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, it would be mandatory for the field officers i.e. Patwari/Qanungos/Naib Tehsildar/Tehsildar that they sit in their offices daily at a fixed time for meeting the people, listening to their grievances and ensuring the facilitation of common people. Besides, the info to this effect must be displayed through signboards outside their offices. He asked the departmental officers to issue orders soon at the Department level.

He also mentioned that after the success of special camps held this year on January 6th and 15th in order to dispose off the pending mutations' cases, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has again asked for resumption of Jan Lok Adalats in the State. Jimpa said that he would personally visit these Adalats and listen to the grievances of the people apart from their suggestions and try to resolve the grievances on the spot. He also divulged that the pending mutations would be disposed off by holding more special camps. It is noteworthy that in the earlier held camps, 50796 cases of pending mutations were resolved.

During the meeting, the Revenue Minister also took stock of the complaints received on the helpline numbers 8184900002 and 9464100168 (NRIs) issued by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He was apprised that till June 13th, 2024 a total of 4387 complaints were received out of which 3064 were resolved. The Minister said that the complaints received on both the numbers should be solved in a time bound manner and no laxity in this regard would be tolerated. He added that he would review this work every week soon.

Apart from this, Jimpa also took stock about the funds released for constructing/repairing new Tehsils/Sub Tehsils and S.D.M. complex and directed that these buildings should be of top notch quality as per the orders of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He also emphasized that the people should get all services under one roof. He further directed the officers to ensure timely compensation in full to the owners of those lands which were acquired for the development works.

Among others present on the occasion included the Financial Commissioner Revenue KAP Sinha, Secretary Alaknanda Dayal, Arshdeep Singh Thind.
